Shymkent (Chimkent) Kazakstan Re-Union August 2004.
Similar to United States, in the late 80’s Chimkent peaked at around 100 ethnicities/nationalities.
Kazakhstan was a melting pot for religious freedom, and escaping war and poverty of 20th century turmoil. When travelers came the natives accepted everybody and even gave away free land to new comers.

The Chimkent church consisted of around 900 members about 1500 including children.
The first wave of immigration from Kazakhstan occurred in the mid 80’s for German background peoples to Germany. In the late 80’s borders opened up to Russian/Ukrainian Protestants to United Stases.

The Re-Union brought more than 50% Shymkents together including Germans and lasted about 3 weeks with all the excursions and events. It was a joyful and memorable occasion!
